Rubber hose is used for a wide range of applications throughout many different industries and market sectors. They are manufactured from various rubber compounds and can be reinforced with wire or textile plies for increased durability and pressure resistance. We supply rubber hose in an extensive range of size and types. Our most popular types include air hose, water hose, brewers hose, food quality hose, chemical hose and steam hose. As well as standard coils, we can also offer cut lengths if required.
All our Rubber hoses unless stated are available in continuous lengths (without joins) in some cases up to 100 metres in length. Which ever option you choose under 'Select Length' will be supplied as one continuous length.
Rubber hoses are designed for specific fluid, temperature, and pressure ranges and are provided in various specifications to cater for various applications. Rubber hoses can consist of various layers of rubber with or without synthetic reinforcement (which enable the hose to work at higher working and bursting pressures). Some rubber hoses will also consist of encapsulated steel wire helix to give the hose further degrees of flexibility without the hose kinking.
A rubber hose will be made of natural latex (rubber) or synthetic rubber. Hoses made of other materials such as plastic, vinyl, silicone, or other specialized materials may be used for similar applications. Natural rubber has several advantages as a material for hoses and tubing.
Rubber extrusion involves forcing raw rubber materials through an extrusion die. Dipping rubber tubes involves long cylinders called mandrels whose thickness is the width of the desired internal diameter. They are dipped into vats of rubber and then dried and steam cured.
The Radiator / Coolant hose is an essential part of your cooling system that manages the flow of coolant from your water pump to the heater. Your radiator hose is a rubber device that removes excess heat from the coolant before it goes back to your engine to repeat the cycle again.
Coolant hoses typically last several years, though anything longer than 10 years may be pushing the limits. Rubber weakens with age and from repeated exposure to hot coolant, so the older they get the higher chance they'll leak and cause the engine to overheat. The type and application of the hose can severely lengthen or shorten the lifespan of the hose
EPDM stands for ethylene propylene diene monomer, it's commonly shortened to EPDM or EPDM rubber. EPDM is used most commonly used in the automotive and construction industries for various seals due to its excellent resistance to environmental factors such as Ozone, UV and general weathering.
Overall, rubber hoses are more durable. Hoses made of vinyl and rubber are priced in the middle. They've got rubber's flexibility and durability combined with vinyl's light weight. They may have more ply or an outer mesh layer to protect against snags and punctures.
Our collection of fuel hoses includes automotive fuel hoses that can be purchased in a range of diameters to fit various fuel pumps. We stock fuel hoses with a range of reinforcement options including high tensile steel cord, steel wire, and PVC spiral. You’ll also find a selection of braided fuel lines with wide operating temperature ranges.
